Education & Admission She graduated from Valley High School. She earned dual bachelor’s degrees in Political Science and Spanish from the University of New Mexico. She was admitted to the New Mexico State Bar in 2006.

Prior Experience Before her appointment, Gunderson served as a Special Commissioner in the Second Judicial District Children’s Court beginning in October 2022. In that role she presided over abuse and neglect, juvenile delinquency, and mental health commitment cases.

She previously worked as an Assistant District Attorney in Bernalillo County, where she prosecuted DWI and domestic violence cases. She also spent more than a decade in private practice focusing on child welfare, criminal defense, and civil litigation. She has tried over 20 jury trials and more than 300 bench trials. She has volunteered as faculty at the UNM School of Law, teaching evidence, trial practice, and depositions.

Appointment & Current Role A Democrat and EMERGE NM 2019 Alum, she was appointed by Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham to the Metropolitan Court on March 15, 2025 to fill a vacancy.

Election Status She is running in the November 2026 general election.
